On this page, I present an enhanced version of the 2016 Wallace Chamber of Commerce Events Calendar. Many Silver Valley events are also included. Several of Wallace's festivals are large enough to warrant their own pages, complete with photos and forms.

Gyro Days Carnival and Lead Creek Derby in Wallace

Thursday is the start of the downtown Carnival that runs through Saturday night.

The 75^th running of the Lead Creek Derby from Mullan to Wallace will begin at noon on Saturday, June 18, 2016, when the brightly colored leather ball drops into the South fork of the Coeur d'Alene River.

The Lead Creek Derby Raffle
is based on the time it takes the Gyro Ball to float from Mullan to Wallace. The elapsed time and ticket numbers are randomly paired by computer. Tickets are $1 each. A book of ten is $10... but then you only have to print your name once.

Fifth Annual Wallace Idaho Blues Festival

This festival has been named Best Blues Festival three consecutive years by the Inland Empire Blues Society. It is one of the largest cultural arts events held in scenic northern Idaho each year.

21^st annual High Mountain ATV Jamboree and Rodeo 2016

in and around Wallace.

Last summer, this event had to be cancelled due to the excessive fire danger throughout the Pacific Northwest. This summer is relatively cool with temperatures mostly staying in the 75-85° range with moderate rainfall keeping vegetation green.

The Jamboree sports a week long schedule of hosted trail rides with 5-7 rides to choose from each day Monday through Friday. Rides are set up according to three levels of difficulty and are rated as either easy, moderate or advanced. The difficulty level is determined primarily by the type of terrain encountered. Factors considered include: steepness, roughness, obstacles, snow and distance.

The ATV rodeo will be on Saturday and includes four events Drag Racing, Barrel Racing, Sled Pull and the Obstacle Course. The six day Jamboree culminates on Saturday evening with the ever popular BBQ steak dinner banquet, awards presentation and drawings.

Fall for History
at the Center of the Universe

New Event in 2016!

In cooperation with the Idaho Humanities Council, the Idaho Historical Society, the Idaho Association of Museums and Visit Idaho, Wallace will be celebrating its heritage with a series of colorful lectures, history re-enactments, live theater productions, and guided tours of the town, which as far as we know is the only city in America entirely listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Fourteen different events, including three workshops and several historical tours, are planned for this inaugural fall celebration of our colorful history. Our featured speaker is John Langellier. He received his Ph.D. in military history from Kansas State University. After a 45-year career in public history, he retired in Tucson Arizona, in 2015. He is the author of dozens of books, including Fighting for Uncle Sam: Blacks in the Frontier Army.

Wallace Halloween Bash 2016
This traditional October event is the Wallace Chamber's primary fundraiser of the year, and is vital to keeping the visitors center open and the chamber office staffed. To help, donate or purchase tickets, please contact Dave at the Chamber office (208) 753-7151.

This year we will have a Halloween Bash on October 22^nd, complete with live and silent auctions, casino games, entertainment, a great dinner and a costume contest. The party will be held at the Elks Lodge. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Auction items are starting to come in, including a 2009 Chevy Cruze donated by Dave Smith Motors, tickets to local attractions, gift baskets and much more. However, more donations are always needed and appreciated to ensure a fun and successful event. The evening begins at 5:30 PM with silent auction bidding and casino games. Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM. The live auction will follow. After the auction closes, party goers are invited to dance to the music of local favorites. To add to the festivities, attendees are encouraged to dress in Halloween attire and be eligible for costume contest prizes.
