The History of Wallace Idaho

Wallace is facinating for its history: 133 years old, bawdy in its boom times, resolute in the hard times, this town of 874 reveles in its history. Today, five out of six tourist attractions in town celebrate the town's history and culture. The Sierra Silver Mine Tour trolly takes tourists past the Mining Museum, the Railroad Museum, the Bordello Museum, and the Melodrama on its way to the mine and the walking part of the tour.

However, the true history of the town lies in the archives of photos, newspapers, letters, stories and memories. This part of the website will organize this information in two ways. On the surface, this history index webpage will lead to a series of stories with restored photographs that tell tales from the past. Below the surface, a massive and sophisticated database grows. Use the domain's search engine to search the history of Wallace for information about a variety of persons, places, and things.
