The Wallace Junior-Senior High School is a wonderful
building complementing
the architecture of historic Wallace.
The colored block design looks great from the street.
Landscaping, paving, and lettering make it a very
inviting school.
Remarkable exterior features of
the building are significant and noticeable.
Other features that are inherent in the design are
equally impressive. As planned, this building will
be low maintenance and highly efficient.
The stained
and sealed block building will not require painting
in the future. It is easily cleanable surface also.
The walls and roof are well insulated. Lights in the
classroom have sensors and will shut off when not
in use. Classrooms have heating and cooling for
student convenience. Additionally there are heat
pumps and air exchangers; T-8 lighting and electronic
ballasts; occupancy sensors for lighting; use
of natural light; heated roof drains; and ease
of snow removal from the parking areas.
The lighting on the stage and commons area is state
of the art.
The Junior-Senior High School has two science labs,
an art room, and a home economics room with two
kitchens. Other specialized classrooms include
silk screening, band, media center,
technology/computer, distance learning,
technical/vocational, special education, cad,
drama center, weight room, and large gym space
capable of cross court set-ups for sports practices.
There are four locker rooms, with two for general
physical education and two for sporting events.
